Occupational Therapy

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy (OT) applies specialist techniques to maximise a child's engagement and independence in all activities of daily life. Sensory processing difficulties can have a significant impact on function, engagement and wellbeing. Therefore, our Occupational Therapist specialises in Sensory Integration Therapy, an application of OT.

Who is Occupational Therapy for?

Leapfrog Therapies offers Occupational Therapy services to any learners aged between 18 months and 25 years. At any age, Occupational Therapy input can support increased engagement and independence in a range of activities, including play, education, leisure and self-care; and/or meet a variety of complex sensory needs.

How is Occupational Therapy carried out?

Our Occupational Therapist will carry out assessment and observation across multiple environments. Following assessment, intervention will be planned and tailored to individual needs, working towards child centred participation goals. Intervention may include one to one sessions delivered by the OT or the OT can act as consultant, delivering recommendations and training to parents, school/nursery and/or Leapfrog Therapists. Intervention and recommendations will be reviewed regularly and adapted to meet the needs of your child.
